Due out this May??? Starring Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett...
http://robinhoodthemovie.com/
It looks like it has potential. Real potential. Directed by Ridely 'Gladiator' Scott...
Have I just been under a rock in a cave on Mars with my eyes closed and fingers in my ears that this is the first I am hearing of this...?? Don't be shy - you can tell me if I have...I won't be offended... |

I heard about this a while back too... I was looking up Mark Strong... I think he's a villian in it, yes? I am going to have to go and watch this trailer now... _________________ The caged bird sings

My take on this ?
Usually anything involving the sheer genius that is Ridley Scott, combined with swords, horses & blood-drenched men fighting to the death for what they believe in, can only be a very good thing.
Add the incentive of Russell Crowe in full Maximus mode & Cate Blanchett into the mix & we could be in for a treat ... Well, I hope so, anyway ... _________________ I will choose my own fate !

Ok...the article is a yawner...but scroll down and there's a trailer for the new movie. You really didn't think I'd leave you hanging with some stupid article and no pay-off...did you?
http://www.asylum.com/2010/05/03/robin-hood-legend/
I'm still undecided... I just...Russell Crowe just... Ok, I'll 'fess up, I just don't really think he's all that. There. I said it.
Now I am going to go hide before someone tries to string me up...

Kate Blanchett's playing Marion and she's always worth watching, but I don't know. Can a new Robin Hood film really top the awesomeness that was Alan Rickman cancelling christmas?
unless it's Russell Crowe's Robin lobbing phones instead of arrows to save the day. Come on I bet you'd watch it ;) _________________ The woods are lovely dark and deep.

I liked Gladiator very much, even though I know it wasn't historically accurate. So, I'll definitely go and see this one, which is a good thing since Mom really wants to go and see it - she LOVED Gladiator so much and still watches it about twice a month. _________________

Ooooh...Homeric...forgot about Alan Rickman canceling Christmas. And, I agree, Cate Blanchett is always worth watching...
Ummm...nah...even lobbing phones, I'd have a rough time watching him. He just bothers me - not as much as Brad Pitt, but it's close. I don't know what it is. I couldn't make it all the way through Gladiator, due mainly to his presence.
Anywaywho. I'm still undecided about seeing the movie...I think I'll wait for the dvd or until it ends up at the bargain shows. |

Sorry ... Don't think anything/anyone can possibly top Alan Rickman in "Prince of Thieves" he grabbed that film by the scruff of the neck & swaggered off with it. Bless him ... _________________ I will choose my own fate !

Well...DUH... I don't think anyone really watched it for Kevin Costner, did they???
Alan Rickman and whoever played Guy of Gisbourne... Nice combo there. At least until Sean swaggered on at the end. But even then...it's a close call... |

I mostly watched it for:
Alan Rickman, Michael Wincott, Morgan Freeman & Christian Slater - basically anyone but K Costner ! _________________ I will choose my own fate !

My point exactly. Who knew Sean was going to show up at the end? Just a bonus in my book, baby...just a big bonus.
Woosh. I have to stop now - still at work and wow...I could get myself into a huge mess of trouble if I keep up on this fantasizing about that cast.... |

My mum did. She made me go and see Waterworld too - that's practically child abuse in my book. _________________ The woods are lovely dark and deep.

I think you're right. That's....horrible...
She made you see Waterworld? You most definitely have a cruelty case there, Homeric...most definitely... |

Sheesh ! I'm surprized that you're as sane as you are after having that torture inflicted upon you, Homeric.
That was brutal ...
Almost as bad as my dad making me watch anything with Gene Hackman/Clint Eastwood/ Jean Claude Van Damme or Steven Seagal - I know, my old man has lousy taste in films ... _________________ I will choose my own fate !

OK...I confess to watching a Steven Seagal movie and enjoying it but only because my high school Spanish teacher was in it for, like, 15 minutes. So I liked those 15 minutes and spent the remainder of the time going
Wow...could you imagine a movie with JVD and SS?
Yeah...my old man had a thing for the Clint Eastwood movies too...I think that, to this day, that is part of my aversion to cop movies...the whole Dirty Harry thing and all...
for all us traumatized children of forced movie torture. |
